Hotel Lozenge

With a newly formed façade, 25 refurbished guestrooms, bar-restaurant and roof garden, the existing building on 6 Valaoritou Street and Voukourestiou Street has been reborn to give a new flair to the old “Athens Lycabettus Hotel”, and also to the former busy pedestrian way, which due to the recent conditions in the center of Athens it has significantly decayed.

Taking into consideration some old hotel elements and a “design by budget” guide, all 25 rooms have been refurbished with a view to address today’s guest’s needs.  The design has been based on functionality, comfort, easy use of luggage and that is why the furniture combine several functions, latest technology systems and materials that offer eloquence, simplicity and warmth to the space.

On the ground floor a continuous space has been formed, friendly and open to the public, where the hotel and F&B functions interrelate, connect and complete each other.

At the back, where a double height atrium has been newly created, a green wall/ vertical garden leads the view to the Athens sky.

Materials such as marble, coloured mirror, folded metal sheets, paint, leather and the natural element of the vertical garden are found in clear geometry and form interchanging volumes from one space to the next, offering a dynamics, fresh and luxurious sense to the guest.

At the outside and on the first three room levels of the hotel, a newly added aluminium façade forms new openings towards the pedestrian road giving a fresh image to the existing building as well as additional privacy to the visitor.

A synthesis of geometrical forms, rhombuses that either cut-out or fill-in, compose a dancing line that evolves along the rooms in between slots of rain and climbs up the building embracing the lavender blooming balconies.

The design concept of the building’s new façade offered the hotel’s new brand name: “Hotel Lozenge”.
