Office Building Redesign
and Miele Experience Center
in Athens
The intervention on the existing building, originally designed back in 2005, was strategically planned in two levels in order to maintain the most powerful advantages of the original building concept: a) internal remodelling of all areas of the property in order to accommodate the headquarters, the exhibition space (Miele Experience Center) and the support service of the company Miele Hellas, and b) exterior reshaping using backlit transparent projection screens.
The building hosts the Miele Hellas headquarters as well as the Miele Experience Center, on 6 levels with a total area of 3,100 sq.m.. It consists of a ground floor of 320 sq.m., first and second floors of 300 sq.m and 200 sq.m respectively, as well as three basements. The main principle of the redesign was to be flexible in terms of operations, with possibilities of group and individual work when and where required, open to the outside of the building but also to the inside large patio, low energy consumption and to follow the wellness standards and hygiene in the post-Covid era.
The new redesign enhances the crucial contribution of the large vertical patio which successfully connects all four working levels and allows daylight to reach the open-plan working spaces which lay on the first basement.
