Pomelo

Andros

Pomelo is a meze restaurant tucked into a narrow alley of Batsi, where traditional materials and spatial clarity reframe the experience of hospitality. In a picturesque alley of Batsi, the most cosmopolitan seaside settlement of Andros, a preserved stone building dating back to 1912 is carefully renovated and transformed into a contemporary meze restaurant, balancing tradition with a fresh design perspective.

The intervention retains the architectural clarity and materials of the original shell, while subtly introducing new chromatic accents, soft textures, and a fluid transition between interior and exterior spaces.

Inside, earthy-toned plastered walls, deep green wooden frames, and terrazzo textured flooring are combined with textile details in terracotta and olive green shades. Hand-blown glass light fixtures in matching hues serve as subtle sculptural elements. At the heart of the composition lies the bar, clad in ceramic tiles in pink and terracotta and topped with a terrazzo counter in a soft tone.
