L Scape Residence
Μarousi
Nestled in the northern suburbs of Athens, this family residence is designed to merge interior and exterior spaces, offering a modern yet timeless living experience. The house is positioned on a nearly square plot in Marousi, where the absence of significant views inspired an inward- looking design. An L-shaped layout defines the structure, embracing a central courtyard with a striking swimming pool, an oasis that anchors the home both visually and functionally.
The architectural synthesis unfolds through the interplay of two distinct volumes. A wide exposed concrete slab extends overhead, unifying the structure while floating effortlessly above the living spaces. Beneath it, public areas are framed by floor-to-ceiling glass, dissolving the threshold between indoors and out.
Here, the house breathes with its surroundings, its openness inviting natural light and movement. In contrast, private spaces, stone volumes housing the bedrooms and kitchen, extend beyond the slab’s boundary, offering warmth, shelter, and seclusion. Above, a white floating box overlooks the courtyard, serving as a contemplative retreat and home office.
