House in Amoni

House in Amoni

Korinthos

The plot is part of a dense pine tree forest overlooking the Saronic gulf. The initial design objective was to preserve and highlight the natural landscape and vegetation. The vacation house is placed among the trees with the minimum possible landscape intervention, promoting outdoor living and the interaction with nature.

The single-story building is a long rectangular prism resting vertically on the landscape inclination partially submerged to the ground at the back of the plot and emerging off the ground at the front. The plan is composed as a linear array of rooms. The living area on the north edge sits on a single pillar overlooking the bay through an open corner. A central atrium separates the living area from the rest of the house and is aligned level to the adjusting contour line. The kitchen is situated at the opposite side of the open-air space, functionally unified with the living area.

A long corridor transcends the length of the building providing access from the main entrance to the three single bedrooms and service areas and terminating to the master bedroom and adjacent sunken courtyard at the south edge of the house.
