House
in Andros
Designing this 300 sq.m. residence at Kypri of Andros, the architects aimed for its functional and aesthetic integration into the rocky and steeply inclined plot (40% slope) of southwestern orientation, providing unobstructed, breathtaking panoramic view of the Aegean Sea.
The essential points, the preservation of the natural landscape relief and the harmonization of the building within, the protection of it from the strong northern winds, its bioclimatic character, and the optimization of the wide viewing angle, lead to the creation of an encaved house, consistent to the plot particularities; only one façade and the complete restitution of the ground around and above the building, in a way that blurs the boundaries between the constructed and the natural environment.
