Herodion Hotel, Athens

Herodion Hotel is a late 60’s hotel created by architect Ms Theodora Sartzetaki in a way that later on was referred to as Aris Konstantinides post war style.

The hotel had ever since undergone through various renovations at different periods. Both  architects, Michalis Kaimakamis and Wim de Mul, who got involved in that, have showed great respect to the original 60’s character of the hotel by emphasizing the clarity, simplicity and functionality of the original design.

Space flows in an unremarkably gentle way from the original and rather classical-cozy style of the ground floor lounge to the newly renovated reception area and indoor restaurant, all of them aesthetically linked through the exposed original concrete ceiling beams.

The Jacuzzi and Spa areas on the roof-garden of the hotel, mainly dressed up in wood create a very strong dialogue with the oxidized metal surfaces of the brand new cocktail bar and “Point α” restaurant, both areas offering an excellent view to the cliff of the Acropolis, the Parthenon itself and the freshly built new museum of the Acropolis.
