Ophthalmica, Thessaloniki, OFFICETWENTYFIVEARCHITECTS

‘Opthalmica’ is placed in the corner of Vassilissis Olgas  and Ploutonos st, in a noisy part of Thessaloniki. It is  a private ophthalmology clinic with reception, lobby, waiting area, offices, examining rooms and surgery rooms. Initially, the design process was based on the idea of constructing an introvert building, respecting the need of patients and doctors for isolation and concentration . Therefore, we decided to ‘seal’ the external shell, in order to exclude the view on the inside and at the same time to offer to both the doctor and the patient a feeling of security and privacy.

The facades are covered with white  marble panels, and regular additions of displays, which allow and promote the clinic’s communication with the outdoors. Marble, has been chosen for its pure, clean and honesty , connotations , that are reflected equally to the clinic.
