Administration and logistics center of Pharmacists Cooperative of Chania

Designing a new shell and new office premises at the administration and logistics center of Pharmacists Cooperative of Chania has been necessary in order to adapt to the existing design of the load bearing structure and the pharmaceutical equipment management and transportation mechanism.

The rural character with citrus trees in Chania plain called for a horizontal structure in three zones, in an effort to include the building's gigantic monolithic volume into the area's scale. The third zone of the roof serves as a visual barrier vis-à-vis the roof filled with photovoltaics.

The architectural intervention by designers practically included the administrative and secretarial support premises in the western part of the building, where significant changes were brought about in the load bearing structure design. This part, internally, was structured in three vertical zones.

The extended use of wooden and glass surfaces was deemed necessary to express this interaction with the bare metal frame.
