House in Penteli, ISV Architects

The residence is located in an oblong land plot, with intense inclination, in Penteli and houses a five-member family. This plot's geometry led to a linear resolution of the building issue that is structured in 3 levels in order to capitalize on the soil's morphology, so that the residence can make use of all different qualities of open air space and views.

The rigid geometry of the floor plan is expressed in the shell with a view to the street and in the lateral views, while becoming more fluid in the courtyard area, where accommodation areas open up so that the exterior space penetrates the interior. Glazing panes are widely used for penetration of light in the residence as the high pine trees cast shadow on the building during most of the day. The light is filtered where deemed necessary by metallic sunbreaks.

Different view qualities have been particularly worked on as the residence can extend in height in this particular land plot. Its first level touches the ground and opens to the garden; the send one is delimited in-between the levels and is in contact with the dense foliage of pine trees, while on the third level, where bedrooms are placed, one could enjoy a panoramic view of the basin.

The architectural expression is severe with the building constituting a vessel living the experience from within, giving priority to the relationship with the forest and the view. The first level is made of fair-faced concrete to function jointly with the ground creating a base for the simple white form of the two overlying floors.
